Germany’s largest international academic cooperation support agency, the German Academic Exchange Service, commonly known as the DAAD, has urged the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs to restore visa application procedures for third-country students.
The Federal Foreign Ministry has been urged by the #DAAD to promote the visa application and immigration processes, and they have already responded positively.
When the German embassies were closed, interview appointments, issuance of visas and all other procedures were brought to a halt.
The support of DAAD has been welcomed on Twitter by students and other individuals.
Academic year 2017/18 data shows that 374,951 foreign students were enrolled in German higher education institutions and 2,842,225 students were enrolled in German universities for a degree.
